SoFIX: Bring Clients Live Up to 5x Faster With Automated FIX Certification

Every capital markets firm depends on FIX and all their tech teams know the routine. New counterparties are ready to trade but first need to get connected, and connectivity has always been a long, painful process.

Someone needs to read through a FIX specification — often a dense, unstructured PDF document that hasn't been updated in years — and manually translate it into algo screens, configurations and test cases. Someone else has to build a test pack, run it, validate the responses, and chase down every mismatch. And coordinating synchronous activities across multiple teams, including vendors, adds major delays. Meanwhile, the team lead struggles to track where things stand because the business is chasing; every passing day means lost revenue or opportunity cost.

This is the FIX certification bottleneck, and it's one of the most persistent operational drags in electronic trading. Sosuv Consulting built SoFIX to eliminate it.

SoFIX is an AI-enabled automation and tracking platform purpose-built for FIX onboarding and certification. This process, which historically takes weeks or months, is compressed into days — cutting certification time by 70-80% and delivering documented cost and resource savings of up to 68%.

For sell-side firms, buy-side firms, and technology vendors alike, SoFIX turns FIX certification from a recurring operational headache into a fast, auditable, largely automated workflow.

The FIX Queue Problem

The manual nature of traditional FIX onboarding and connectivity is often the biggest source of delay, operational cost and trading risk. Manual FIX certification introduces these at nearly every stage of the process, and those issues compound.

Manual spec review and conversion is slow and error-prone. FIX specifications arrive in a variety of formats — PDFs, XML, ATDL — and rarely in a form that's ready for test design. Someone has to read the spec, interpret its intent, and manually convert it into algo screens and structured test cases. This stage alone can consume days or weeks and introduce misinterpretations or errors.

Test coverage gaps lead to costly trading errors. Building a comprehensive test pack by hand is tedious work, and that invites shortcuts. Missing test cases don't just slow down certification — they let errors slip into production. Mishandled tags or an unvalidated response can translate directly into trading losses or failed executions.

Manual test pack handling is time-consuming. Beyond designing the tests, someone has to actually run them: entering test data, validating responses against expected behavior, and handling the back-and-forth of an interactive certification session. This manual and monotonous process impacts both you and your counterparts at the other firm, forcing low-value and repetitive work onto skilled engineers.

Status tracking and audits are difficult or impossible. Manual processes are opaque by nature, making real-time status impossible. Are we on test case 40 of 400? Which ones failed and were re-run? Who signed off on what? Without integrated tracking, status updates become another inexact, manual process. And audit trails — often required by compliance and risk functions — are created after the fact, if at all.

The result: compounding FIX queue delays. Each of these friction points adds time on its own, but the real cost is how they stack. A spec review that takes two weeks pushes back test pack creation. A test pack with coverage gaps produces errors, leading to repetitive testing or even live trading errors. And a lack of tracking means no one’s even sure when a client will actually go live.

Multiply these across a queue of counterparties and FIX requests and certification becomes a persistent bottleneck that cuts deep into your bottom line.

The business impact goes beyond engineering time. Slow onboarding also means delayed billing and revenue attribution. Every week a client sits in the FIX queue is a week of lost trading volume or execution access, and the revenue tied to it.

Slow onboarding also means delayed billing and delayed revenue attribution

A real-time dashboard and configurable reports provide always-up-to-date status tracking, so your certification progress — for a single counterparty or an entire queue — is visible as it happens, not reconstructed after the fact. Plus, an integrated self-service portal allows counterparties to now perform many activities asynchronously, on their schedule.

Sosuv designed and built SoFIX based on decades of hands-on experience. The firm has served global leaders in banking, asset management, and capital markets, with deep expertise spanning connectivity, software development, QA, and DevOps. Development and deployment of AI and LLM solutions into financial services workflows has become yet another area of expertise at Sosuv.

SoFIX is the product of that experience: a platform designed by people who have built a reputation for excellence in FIX certification and now built the automation solution they wished they'd had.

The pitch is simple. Super-charge your FIX onboarding process with SoFIX, and say goodbye to long FIX queues for good.

How SoFIX Works: The Auto-Cert Workflow

SoFIX is built around a three-stage automated pipeline that mirrors — and accelerates — the natural lifecycle of FIX certification: first turning a raw specification into structured, usable inputs, then building out a complete test pack from those inputs, and finally running and validating that test pack against a simulator or the counterparty's actual system. Each stage is handled by a dedicated agentic process, and the stages work together as an orchestrated workflow rather than a set of disconnected tools.

SpecGen Agent — turning specs into structure. The process starts with whatever a client, vendor or counterparty provides: standard FIX specs, reference data, ATDL, existing test cases, or log data. The SpecGen Agent handles data structuring and format conversion — including ATDL, JSON, and XML — and automatically renders the algo screens that reflect the counterparty's specific trading strategies and tags. This step used to require an engineer to manually parse a PDF and build screens by hand. SoFIX turns unstructured specifications into machine-readable output and builds the rendered screens automatically.

TestGen Agent — building the test pack. Once the spec is structured, the TestGen Agent performs test pack creation and orchestration. It builds comprehensive test scripts, provides a case manager for human-in-the-loop control, and orchestrates the overall test sequence — all adaptive to the specific spec version in use. Because test pack creation is automated and systematic, coverage gaps that arise from manual, ad hoc test design are far less likely to slip through.

Auto-Sim Agent — running and validating the tests. The final stage runs the actual certification tests: an automated test runner executes the test pack, an automated validator checks protocol logic and responses against expected behavior, and an automated responder handles any required interactive back-and-forth. This is the stage that used to consume the most manual hours — entering test data, checking responses, and repeating — and it's now handled end-to-end by the platform. And benefits are magnified when both sides use SoFIX.

Integration and visibility. SoFIX is designed to integrate seamlessly with existing infrastructure via direct FIX connections or API. It’s built to work with internal proprietary systems, third-party solutions, and EMS/OMS platforms alike. The self-service portal gives clients and counterparties visibility into their own certification progress, while a real-time dashboard provides the operating team and business stakeholders a live view across the full queue.

Real-time audit capabilities also support scheduled reporting, so the audit trail that used to require manual upkeep is now generated automatically. SoFIX also integrates directly with Slack and Teams, keeping certification status visible in the tools teams already use day to day. Rounding out the platform, a set of additional applications — including a log inspector, FIX dictionary generator, and FIX tag repository — give technical teams deeper tools for troubleshooting and reference without leaving the platform.

Key Capabilities at a Glance

The core capabilities of SoFIX directly target every friction point in the manual FIX certification process:

  • Automated spec conversion — from unstructured specifications to machine-readable formats, without manual transcription.

  • Automated algo screen and strategy tag rendering — screens generated directly from the spec, eliminating manual build-out.

  • Automated test pack creation and orchestration — spec version-adaptive, so test packs stay aligned with the exact specification version in use.

  • Automated protocol and business logic validation — systematic checking of responses against expected behavior, catching errors that manual review might miss.

  • Real-time status dashboard and audit trail reporting — live visibility into certification progress, with reporting generated automatically rather than compiled by hand.

Documented cost and resource savings of up to 68%

  • Broad asset class and flow type support — SoFIX is built to support all major asset classes and flow types, and provides seamless integration with internal and external systems.

Getting started with SoFIX is also easy and allows you to leverage parts of the platform or do a complete deployment. Either way, you will see ROI in the first month.

The Business Case: What SoFIX Delivers

The technical challenges matter because they have direct operational and financial impact on your business. Here are a few clear, documented outcomes of how SoFIX is solving these problems.

FIX certification times reduced by 70-80%. This is the headline number, and it's the direct result of automating spec conversion, test creation, and test execution — the three stages that consume the most time in manual FIX onboarding. Work that used to take months can now be measured in days or weeks.

Documented cost and resource savings of up to 68%. Faster certification isn't just about speed for its own sake — it's about freeing up skilled FIX engineers from repetitive, manual work so they can focus on higher-value activities. That reduces the total resource cost of onboarding for you and your counterpart.

Fewer costly trading errors, through accurate test coverage and reporting. Because test packs are generated systematically and validated automatically, the coverage gaps that lead to production issues are far less likely to occur — protecting firms from the trading errors that manual, incomplete testing let through.

Faster go-live means faster revenue recognition. Every counterparty that clears certification faster is a session that goes live — and starts generating revenue — sooner. Compressing the certification timeline has a direct impact on P&L and the bottom line, not just engineering efficiency.

A self-service portal that revolutionizes counterparty onboarding. Giving counterparts and vendors direct visibility into their own certification status reduces iteration noise and delays, and even allows them to now manage some of the process themselves.

Compounding benefits when both sides use SoFIX. The platform is designed for two-sided value: when both the sell-side and the client or vendor on the other end use SoFIX, the automation and management benefits reinforce each other, accelerating the process even further.

Built for Flexibility

Every trading organization has a different technology footprint, risk posture, and procurement process, and SoFIX is designed to fit rather than force a particular model. Sosuv offers flexibility across three dimensions:

Flexible platform. Organizations can apply the SoFIX component applications internally to augment their existing FIX team's workflow, automate their end-to-end certification process entirely, or extend the platform to counterparties for full lifecycle automation across the entire onboarding relationship. The platform scales from targeted automation to a complete, automated certification operation.

Flexible deployment. SoFIX can be delivered as a fully hosted solution, fully deployed within a client's own environment, or as a hybrid of the two — with integration and support tailored to the specific requirements of the organization.

Flexible pricing. SoFIX is offered under a flexible, predictable SaaS-based pricing model, with proof-of-concept and project-based engagement options also available, as well as done-for-you (DFY) delivery for organizations that want Sosuv to augment their team or run the process entirely.

The combination is designed to deliver outstanding, near-immediate ROI — organizations don't need to commit to a lengthy, high-risk implementation to start seeing the benefits of automated certification.
